I started drawing and painting early in life, and studied printmaking and mixed media including photography and painting at the Kansas City Art Institute. I spent time after college working in-house in production houses, learning the ins and outs of printmaking on a commercial scale, large and small format, and interfacing with the creative arms of many companies. While working in commercial printing, I always kept a small corner of my home devoted to creativity, including a small 1-color silkscreen setup and sewing area where I would print and sew custom bags, clothing and other accessories under her label Peace Boutique. While living in Austin Texas, I had a grand time at the Blue Genie Art Bazaar, selling handmade products including bags that I sewed and silkscreened, and hand-printed greeting cards
In 2011, I went freelance full-time for the first time, illustrating the first in a series of three children’s books under the Stellybird brand, and transitioning my brand from Peace Boutique to One Little Printshop. Over the next several years, I invested huge focus and time to further my illustration and design skills, taking courses online and in 2015, joining the Finch & Foxglove art collective. I was included in Uppercase Magazine’s 2016 calendar, my llama pattern was one of the winners in Spoonflower’s llama textile design competition, and I won a Sakura hand-lettering contest. 2016 is busier than ever and I am thrilled to be preparing for Printsource (NYC 2017) and Surtex (NYC 2017).
I license and sell my illustrations and patterns, and love working with companies and clients around the world. Please get in touch if you’re interested in licensing, purchasing, seeing more of my work, or commissioning a custom illustration.
